The Sussexes’ communications director Emily Robinson exits after just four months, marking yet another change within their staff.
Meghan Markle and the Duke of Sussex are once again facing turnover in their team as Emily Robinson, their director of communications, has stepped down after only four months. Robinson, who joined in May following a senior publicity role at Netflix, reportedly left the couple’s office in October, according to Daily Mail.
People magazine noted that Robinson’s decision to leave was voluntary. Her LinkedIn profile has yet to be updated to include her brief tenure with the Sussexes. A spokesperson for the couple confirmed her departure, saying she successfully completed several major projects, including work on With Love, Meghan and other productions under their company.
Since settling in California in 2020, the couple have experienced several changes in their communications department. Earlier this year, deputy press secretary Kyle Boulia and U.K. press officer Charlie Gipson both left after a year, while global press secretary Ashley Hansen departed in 2023 to launch her own firm. Currently, Liam Maguire oversees communications in Europe, and Meredith Maines continues as chief communications officer.
Robinson’s exit comes shortly after criticism of Meghan’s recent Instagram video filmed during Paris Fashion Week. Some viewers claimed it appeared to be shot near the Pont de l’Alma tunnel, the site of Princess Diana’s fatal car crash in 1997. According to Daily Mail, Harry was deeply upset by the backlash, feeling that his mother’s memory was unfairly used to attack his wife.
Meghan has recently returned to Instagram, posting updates about life with her children and promoting her lifestyle brand, As Ever.
