Andrew and Fergie face major setback as their daughters reportedly part ways
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are said to be quietly distancing themselves from their parents, Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, following a reported ultimatum from Prince William. The move comes amid growing turbulence surrounding the York family and their place within the monarchy.
In late October, Buckingham Palace confirmed that King Charles had begun a formal process to remove Andrew’s “Style, Titles and Honours.” The decision also means that both Andrew and Fergie will have to vacate the Royal Lodge, a residence tied to their controversial past connections with Jeffrey Epstein.
While the fallout has been harsh on their parents, speculation is now turning to Beatrice and Eugenie’s future roles. Royal commentator Angella Mollard told Sky News that this may be the right moment for the sisters to voluntarily step away from their titles. “This is an ideal opportunity to step back from those titles,” she said, adding that they were “chosen by Andrew and Fergie because of their character, because of their pomposity.”
Mollard believes that distancing themselves from their parents’ troubled legacy could serve the sisters well. “It would be seen as a mature act that shows integrity and public accountability,” she explained. “It would demonstrate self-awareness and align with the King and William’s wish for a smaller, more focused royal family.”
Reports also suggest that Prince William recently held a private meeting with Beatrice and Eugenie before the announcement regarding Andrew’s titles. According to journalist Emily Maitlis, the Prince of Wales urged his cousins to convince their father to vacate the Royal Lodge and warned that their own titles could come under review if they did not take action.
If true, the sisters’ quiet retreat from royal life may not just mark a personal turning point—but also signal a new phase in the monarchy’s effort to modernise and redefine its boundaries.
