Duke of Sussex said to be struggling with Meghan’s cautious stance toward his cousins
Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly at odds over how to handle their relationship with Beatrice and Eugenie as the York family faces renewed scrutiny.
According to royal expert Duncan Larcombe, the Duke of Sussex is said to be worried after Meghan decided to step back from engaging with his cousins due to the sensitivities surrounding the ongoing fallout from the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.
Harry, who has stayed in touch with his father King Charles since their meeting in September, has supported the monarch’s tough stance against Andrew—backing the decision to remove his royal titles and begin eviction proceedings from the Royal Lodge. Despite this, he continues to feel sympathy for Beatrice and Eugenie, who are facing the consequences of their father’s actions.
Eugenie, once close to Meghan, had been among the few royal relatives who stood by the Sussexes when they stepped away from royal duties. This makes Meghan’s new position particularly difficult for Harry, Larcombe told The Mirror.
“With Meghan, there’s a divide there,” he said. “The Epstein situation is extremely sensitive, especially in America, and Meghan, being media-conscious, won’t want to be seen as too sympathetic toward Beatrice and Eugenie.”
The expert added that while Meghan isn’t opposed to Harry offering quiet, private support, she prefers to maintain public distance. “They’re on very different pages,” he explained.
Beatrice and Eugenie are said to have a “massive soft spot” for their cousin, leaving Harry torn between his loyalty to family and his wife’s cautious approach. According to insiders, the Duke feels deeply concerned for his cousins and uncomfortable with the idea of distancing himself during such a challenging time.
