Palace releases Prince William’s special message on the King’s birthday

Royal family marks King Charles’ 77th birthday after a demanding year

Kensington Palace shared a recorded video of Prince William on 14 November, offering warm encouragement to BBC Radio 2 presenter Sara Cox as she reached the final leg of her Great Northern Marathon Challenge. The clip appeared on the station’s official Instagram page and showed the future King cheering her on during her effort to walk five marathons in five days to raise money for Children in Need.

William praised her determination, saying, “Sarah, massive congratulations for what you're doing.” He went on to add, “You're so nearly there, just a little bit further, and I know the people of Pudsey will come out and welcome you with open arms, big hugs and hopefully lots of your favourite crumpets. Keep going, you've done fantastically well, and the nation’s so proud of you.”

Sarah thanked him for the message as she continued towards the finish of her challenge.

The video arrived on a significant day for the royal family, as King Charles marked his 77th birthday. The family is expected to recognise the occasion by honouring his resilience and commitment to duty at a time shaped by health concerns and ongoing family pressures.
