Report questions whether Montecito warned the royals about travel plans
Harry’s uneasy truce with King Charles appears to be running alongside a new wave of friction, with the Palace pushing back on claims coming from Montecito.
In recent weeks, the Duke of Sussex has highlighted his ties to his home country through public essays and appearances that honour long-standing traditions. Even so, palace figures are said to be growing uneasy as fresh disputes surface.
The latest row centres on Harry’s trip to Canada earlier this month. His visit happened to fall on the same day as the Earthshot Prize ceremony in Brazil, a clash that raised eyebrows. Harry’s office said at the time that the Palace had been informed “as a courtesy,” but a report in The Times says neither Buckingham Palace nor Kensington Palace received any such notice. That has led to questions about whether the message was ever sent.
His stop in Toronto to meet with Canadian regiments also appeared to involve a level of approval from royal officials. When asked to clarify who received the supposed courtesy notification, Montecito did not respond.
This dispute links back to a private meeting earlier this year between aides for the King and Harry. During that discussion, Harry offered to share his schedule in advance to avoid future conflicts. The offer was extended to the Prince and Princess of Wales as well.
This is not the first time Harry has found himself at odds with palace staff. He has previously accused senior aides of undermining his efforts to reconnect with his father and urged them to step away from personal matters. His team also stressed that the bond between Harry and the King was strictly between the two of them, after briefings suggested he was treated as a visitor rather than family during an earlier meeting.
With the Palace now publicly disputing parts of his account, the exchange marks another chapter in a long and unsettled relationship.
