King Charles calls for peace in new message amid talk of Harry’s return

Monarch reflects on hope and faith at Westminster Abbey Advent service

King Charles has shared a message of peace and hope following the annual Advent service at Westminster Abbey, as fresh speculation grows about the Duke of Sussex potentially returning to the UK.

In a statement posted on social media, the King described Advent as a season for reflection and preparation, centred on the promise and wonder of Christ’s birth. He spoke warmly about the importance of community, faith, and compassion, while also acknowledging the hardships faced by persecuted Christians around the world.

“It is a great joy to gather with you in the most glorious setting of Westminster Abbey as we celebrate the light, hope and, above all, the peace of this season of Advent,” the King wrote. He added that the period is about prayer, reflection, and looking ahead with faith, not only for those who can worship freely, but also for those living in places where practising their faith is difficult.

The monarch also welcomed church leaders from across the UK and the Middle East, alongside leaders of other faiths, charity representatives, and community figures, praising their work and commitment to helping others.

The message comes at a time when attention has turned back to the Duke of Sussex, following reports that he has secured a review related to his UK security arrangements. The new review reportedly allows him to present his case to the Home Office again, potentially reopening the door to police protection during visits.

If approved, the change could make it easier for the Duke to travel to Britain with his wife, Meghan Markle, and their children, adding further weight to ongoing discussions about a possible return.
