Prince Harry is entering what one royal watcher has described as an extraordinary new phase, as he gets another chance to secure taxpayer-funded protection in the UK amid renewed talk of reconciliation with King Charles.
The Duke of Sussex has won a review into the decision by the Royal and VIP Executive Committee to withdraw his automatic security when he visits Britain. That development has reopened questions about his future relationship with the UK and the Royal Family.
Speaking during an expert discussion, The Sun’s Royal Editor Matt Wilkinson suggested Harry has been unwilling to drop the issue. He asked whether the Duke could fairly be described as stubborn, given his determination to keep fighting the security decision.
Newsweek royal correspondent Jack Royston said the fresh risk assessment raises wider questions. He noted that if Harry is once again being evaluated by security officials, it could suggest plans for spending more time in Britain, or even considering a partial return to royal life in some form.
Royal reporter Bronte Coy also pointed to the timing of the review, calling it a dramatic shift. She said that while the outcome of the assessment remains unclear, the fact that Harry has secured this review feels like a major turning point in a long-running saga.
Coy added that the move comes as attention has been focused on Harry’s apparent efforts to repair his relationship with his father. She referenced their meeting in September during Harry’s visit to the UK, saying it naturally raises questions about whether something bigger is taking shape behind the scenes.
According to Coy, the situation invites speculation about whether the path is being cleared for Harry to play a more active role in the UK again, and potentially reconnect more closely with the Royal Family.
