Sources claim the Duchess of Sussex expects intense media attention and a wave of criticism if she comes back. One insider told Radar Online that her main fear is not travel or royal protocol, but the reaction she believes is waiting for her. They said she feels the British media has become even more hostile towards her over time.
Another source added that her popularity in the UK remains very low and that much of the press is still openly critical of her. According to them, this atmosphere would make any visit difficult and emotionally uncomfortable.
A separate source previously told the Daily Express that Meghan also has serious concerns about security and online abuse, including what they described as “nasty trolls,” should she return.
The Duke of Sussex stepped away from royal duties in 2020 with Meghan Markle and their son. The couple later accused the Royal Family of racism and spoke publicly about their experiences in interviews. They now live in California, where they welcomed their daughter, Princess Lilibet.
