Meghan Markle labelled ‘too attractive’ to work in a kitchen as Netflix future comes into question

Meghan Markle’s Netflix lifestyle series shows her baking and preparing a variety of dishes, highlighting what she presents as a passion for food and home cooking. But celebrity chef Rosemary Shrager has suggested the Duchess of Sussex does not seem like someone who would be comfortable working in a professional kitchen.

Speaking to The Mirror, Shrager said Meghan appeared “too attractive” to be doing kitchen work, making the comment in a light-hearted tone while admitting she has not yet watched the series. She went on to question whether Meghan would cope in a busy, high-pressure kitchen environment alongside trained chefs.

“I don’t know anyone who’s seen it, but that might be because we’re in the industry,” Shrager said. “She’s a lady. She’s not exactly going to get her hands dirty in a brigade of chefs. I can’t imagine her doing that, but I could be wrong.”

Her comments come amid reports that Netflix is not planning to renew its deal with Meghan and Harry. The couple signed a reported $100 million agreement with the streaming giant in 2020, shortly after stepping back from royal duties.

An insider told The Sun that Netflix believes it has already gained as much value as it can from the partnership. “The deal is done. No more shows will be made. Netflix feel they’ve got all they can from the couple,” the source claimed. “They were clever in getting huge viewing figures from the first documentary series and knew that would likely be the peak of content from the Montecito pair.”

Another source suggested the company was not disappointed with the outcome, saying Netflix achieved major attention and early success from the couple’s projects, including what became one of its most talked-about releases.

The original agreement was announced soon after Meghan and Harry left the royal family in 2020, positioning the couple as major content creators for the platform.
