Expert claims Meghan Markle hinted at future control during 2017 TV appearance
Meghan Markle is said to have given an early glimpse of how she planned to manage royal life during her 2017 engagement interview with Harry, according to a body language expert.
The interview, conducted by BBC journalist Mishal Husain, has since been re-examined by analysts who believe Meghan’s behaviour suggested a clear strategy from the start. Speaking to OK! Magazine, the expert claimed the Duchess of Sussex subtly steered the conversation through physical gestures, particularly by holding Harry’s hand and guiding his movements.
At one point in the interview, Harry recalled how he proposed, saying, “It happened a few weeks ago, earlier this month, here at our cottage, just a standard typical night for us,” before the couple described roasting a chicken when the proposal took place.
The expert said Meghan’s body language at that moment was telling. “She had already established a deliberate non-verbal hold over him,” the source explained. By pulling his hand onto her lap and locking their fingers together, Meghan was said to create a connection that was hard for him to break without it appearing awkward on camera.
Another expert, citing palace sources, claimed the interview should have raised early concerns. What once appeared to be natural affection is now being viewed by critics as carefully staged. According to one insider, the signs were there from the beginning that Meghan intended to use Harry to achieve her goals, including gaining a royal title and later building a celebrity lifestyle after distancing him from his family.
They added that what looked like romance at the time is now seen by some as choreography, with Meghan positioned as the one directing the narrative from the very start.
