Prince Harry set for Britain return next week as court case looms

Prince Harry is expected to return to Britain next week, with court papers suggesting he is due to give evidence in his final remaining legal case against a newspaper publisher.

According to a draft timetable, the Duke of Sussex is scheduled to testify at the High Court in London as part of a long-running lawsuit alleging unlawful news gathering. The case is set to run for nine weeks.

Royal commentator Richard Palmer said on X, formerly Twitter, that Harry is expected to be on the witness stand for a full day next Thursday. He added that while the trial formally begins on Monday, much of the early court time has been taken up with arguments over evidence and legal procedure.

Harry is bringing the claim alongside six others. Several high-profile figures are also expected to give evidence, including Elton John, actress Elizabeth Hurley, and Baroness Lawrence, the mother of murdered teenager Stephen Lawrence.

News agency AFP reports that opening statements could last several days, during which Harry may attend court. Hurley is expected to testify the following week, with John and his husband David Furnish due to appear later in the trial.

The visit would mark a rare return to the UK for Harry, who stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and later settled in California with his wife Meghan Markle and their two children.

Harry was last in Britain in September 2025, when he met with his father King Charles III in what was widely seen as an attempt to ease long-running tensions within the family.
