Sources say the Prince of Wales is uneasy about how any future funds linked to Harry could be used, particularly if they support Meghan Markle’s ambitions
Fresh claims suggest that questions over Prince Harry’s future inheritance have added another layer of strain to his already fragile relationship with his brother, Prince William.
According to reports, Harry’s reported hopes of repairing ties with his father have not gone down well with William, who is said to suspect there may be more at stake than family reconciliation. Insiders claim the heir to the throne believes financial considerations could be playing a role, given the scale of King Charles’s private fortune.
Speaking to Woman’s Day, a palace source claimed that while Harry and Meghan Markle are believed to be worth around $105 million, the King’s personal wealth is estimated at about $4.2 billion. That gap, the source suggests, has heightened William’s unease.
The insider alleged that William is now pushing to keep the Sussexes out of any future inheritance discussions. However, they stressed this is not about revenge or reopening old wounds. Instead, William reportedly views it as “basic common sense” and a way of protecting the monarchy.
From his perspective, the source said, Harry did not simply step back from royal duties quietly but did so in a highly public and confrontational way. William is said to struggle with the idea that such a departure could still come with significant financial benefits.
Although William is not yet king, the insider added that his influence within the royal household remains considerable. When he raises concerns, they claim, those concerns are taken seriously, including by his father. Part of that scepticism reportedly centres on how any inheritance money would actually be spent.
Even if funds were left directly to Harry, the source suggested William fears the money could ultimately be redirected to support Meghan Markle’s personal or professional ambitions, something he is said to be keen to avoid.
