Analysts argue Harry still connects with younger audiences in ways the Royal Family struggles to match
The Royal Family has been urged to consider welcoming Harry back, amid concerns that the monarchy is losing its grip on younger generations.
A recent report suggests senior figures are worried about how well the institution resonates in a fast-changing media landscape. Harry’s recent appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert sparked mixed reactions, with some critics questioning the timing. Others, however, saw it as a reminder of his natural ease with the public and his broad appeal.
Despite frequent criticism since stepping back as a working royal, analysts say Harry remains more relatable to younger audiences than many senior members of the family. His ability to communicate comfortably outside traditional royal settings is often cited as a key strength.
Writing in the i Paper, columnist Simon Kelner argued that those shaping the Royal Family’s image should rethink their approach. He said that if figures focused on ideas like “Brand Windsor” and “The Firm” want to succeed in a multimedia world, they should be prepared to embrace Harry again.
Kelner noted that, like any major global brand, the Windsors need relevance across all age groups, especially younger ones. In his view, Harry can reach audiences who are unlikely to engage with formal speeches from Windsor Castle, communicating just as fluently on platforms like TikTok as King Charles does in traditional diplomatic settings.
He added that some within the establishment are likely aware of this and may already be looking ahead to a time when Harry is welcomed back into the fold.
