Prince Andrew has landed in new trouble just days after leaving Royal Lodge, with police now assessing claims he passed confidential information to Jeffrey Epstein during his time as a UK trade envoy.
According to the Mirror, the allegations centre on emails that suggest Andrew shared sensitive reports with Jeffrey Epstein following official overseas visits. The news agency AFP reported that in a November 2010 email, Andrew appeared to forward material relating to Vietnam, Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Singapore after an official trip to Asia.
The BBC said the former Duke of York later sent Epstein further details about the visit, including potential investment opportunities. Epstein’s business associates were reportedly part of the trip, raising further questions about Andrew’s conduct at the time.
Under official guidance, UK trade envoys are required to maintain strict confidentiality over commercial, political and sensitive information linked to their duties.
Amid the latest claims, anti-monarchy group Republic has formally reported Andrew to police. Thames Valley Police confirmed they have received the complaint and are reviewing the information in line with standard procedures.
Republic’s chief executive Graham Smith said he had reported Andrew for suspected misconduct in public office and a possible breach of official secrets, arguing the allegations were comparable to previous cases involving senior public figures.
The developments add to ongoing pressure on Andrew, whose links to Epstein continue to draw scrutiny years after he stepped back from public royal duties.
