Former Duke’s next moves could still unsettle the monarchy
Prince Andrew may no longer hold an official role, but one royal watcher believes he still has the power to cause serious problems for King Charles III.
Despite being sidelined following his scandal-linked association with Jeffrey Epstein, Andrew remains a concern behind palace doors. His recent move from Royal Lodge to a smaller property in Norfolk has stripped him of most staff and privileges, but some believe that has not reduced the potential threat he poses.
Speaking on TalkTV, host Mark Dolan described Andrew as “disgraced” and said there is little sign he has shown remorse or reflected publicly on his actions. According to Dolan, the royal family is bracing itself for further damaging revelations.
“They know there’s more stuff coming about Andrew,” he claimed, adding that the family is fully aware and has been working to distance itself from him. Dolan suggested this distancing explains why Charles approved the removal of most of Andrew’s staff.
Andrew, who once had around 30 staff members and a sizeable communications team, is now reportedly down to just three aides. Dolan said many of those let go were compensated generously as part of the transition.
However, the expert warned that Andrew’s reduced status does not mean he is powerless. One of the biggest risks, he said, would be a tell-all interview or even a memoir.
“The danger for Charles is that Andrew still has a few potential weapons up his sleeve,” Dolan said. “A tell-all interview is one. A book is another, and it can’t be ruled out. Charles is stuck between a rock and a hard place.”
