King Charles is facing renewed pressure to take firmer and faster action over Prince Andrew as criticism around the Duke continues to grow. Royal watchers say the King can no longer afford to stay silent, with calls mounting for a clear public statement addressing the ongoing controversy.
So far, the monarch has not openly demanded that his disgraced brother fully explain his past association with Jeffrey Epstein. But according to royal commentators, the lack of clarity is beginning to reflect poorly on the wider institution.
Speaking to GB News, royal expert Jennie Bond said the Royal Family’s frustration is becoming increasingly visible. While official statements have consistently focused on sympathy for the victims, she believes there is also deep concern about the lasting impact on the monarchy itself.
“The Royal Family are quite understandably fed up with the whole situation,” Bond explained. “They always say their thoughts are with the victims and not about themselves, but it’s clear they are worried about the damage this is doing and continues to do. The questions are growing, and I’m not convinced they are going to disappear. I’m also not sure enough has been done.”
Bond admitted she initially believed the Palace had gone as far as it could when Andrew was stripped of his military roles, royal patronages, and effectively removed from public royal life. However, her view has since changed.
“I thought at the time, what more can they do?” she said. “But I’m now coming around to the idea that we may need a public statement from the King himself. Something that confirms he has applied pressure on his brother to cooperate with the American investigation into Epstein.”
As scrutiny intensifies, the silence from the top is becoming harder to defend. For many observers, a direct statement from the King may now be the only way to draw a clear line between the monarchy and the controversy surrounding Prince Andrew.
