King Charles has reportedly held an emergency meeting with senior royals following the arrest of his brother Andrew, as speculation swirled about the future of the monarchy.
According to royal commentator Rob Shuter, the private meeting included Queen Camilla, Prince William, Catherine, and other senior family members. The message coming out of the talks was said to be clear: King Charles is not stepping aside.
Shuter wrote in his Substack that the gathering ended with full backing for the monarch, despite the intense media attention surrounding Andrew’s arrest.
“An emergency palace summit ended with one unmistakable conclusion: abdication is not happening, and the family is united behind the King,” Shuter claimed.
The meeting reportedly took place shortly after King Charles III issued a public statement addressing the situation. In his remarks, the King appeared to dismiss any suggestion of stepping down.
“Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all,” he said.
Charles also addressed the legal process involving Andrew, stating that he had learned of the news “with the deepest concern” and stressed that the matter must be handled through a “full, fair and proper process” by the relevant authorities.
Shuter’s claims come as commentators question whether the arrest of the former royal could pose a serious challenge to the monarchy. Palace insiders, however, insist the institution remains stable, with the King firmly supported by his family.
