Prince William is not expected to face scrutiny as King Charles comes under growing pressure following the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, according to new reports.
The fallout from Andrew’s arrest has reopened questions about past palace conduct, putting renewed focus on the King’s leadership. Although Charles issued a statement saying the law must take its course and confirmed full cooperation with investigators, critics have gone further, with some calling for him to step aside.
Despite the noise, sources say William is unlikely to be drawn into the controversy. A US entertainment site cited royal experts who believe the Prince of Wales remains insulated from the situation, keeping him well away from any direct fallout.
Public reaction has been sharply divided. “It’s time for Charles to step down,” one critic wrote on social media. Others pushed back, defending the monarch. “There is no cover-up. Leave the dutiful innocent king alone,” one royal supporter posted. Another added, “The King will be the King until he stops breathing. William would want that, and it’s not like this forever.”
Behind palace walls, however, concern is reportedly growing. A former palace aide said there is “deep anxiety inside royal circles,” warning that even if Andrew is never charged, the damage to the monarchy’s reputation could be lasting. “Charles has tried to distance the institution from his brother, but history shows scandals rarely stay contained,” the aide said.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested on Thursday and later released under investigation on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
