Sarah Ferguson Considers a Move Abroad as Princess Eugenie Faces Fallout From Family Scandal

Sarah Ferguson’s next chapter may take her far from the UK, with Australia emerging as a possible new home as her daughters continue to deal with the fallout from renewed scrutiny of her past friendships.

Fresh speculation suggests the Duchess of York could be weighing a move Down Under, where she has long-standing personal ties and a warmer public reception. Commentators say Australia may offer a quieter reset after damaging revelations linked her to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, including private emails that exposed both praise for him and her financial struggles.

Royal columnist Phil Dampier has pointed to family connections as a key factor. Speaking to Woman’s Day, he revealed that Ferguson’s sister, Jane Ferguson Luedecke, who lives on the Central Coast of New South Wales, recently visited to support her and raised the idea of relocating closer to her in Australia.

According to Dampier, Ferguson has always had a soft spot for Australia and its people, adding that some there remain sympathetic toward her despite the controversy.

The renewed attention follows the release of Epstein-related emails and documents by the US Department of Justice. These records painted an uncomfortable picture of Ferguson’s financial situation, including pleas for assistance and references to money troubles and job searches for a family member.

One email in particular drew attention for its bluntness, with Ferguson asking Epstein to consider employing her directly, citing her desperation for income. Reports have also claimed she privately shared similar concerns with friends, despite having lived rent-free at Royal Lodge with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor for years.

As scrutiny continues, the pressure on her daughters has reportedly intensified, making the idea of distance and discretion increasingly appealing. Whether Australia becomes a permanent move or simply a temporary refuge remains unclear, but it is now firmly part of the conversation surrounding Ferguson’s future.
