Insider claims tensions run deeper than previously thought
The strained relationship between Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and King Charles has been the subject of quiet speculation for months, but a close friend of the former Duke has now offered a clearer picture of what’s really going on.
Speaking to Hello!, the associate suggested the fallout is not only serious but also long-standing. According to the source, the situation stems partly from Andrew’s past associations, which they described as deeply damaging.
“You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to see it,” the friend said, pointing to the hurt caused by decisions Andrew made. “A lot of people were badly affected by someone he should never have been linked to in the first place.”
However, the insider stressed that this is only part of the story. They hinted that the dynamic between Andrew and the King has also played a major role in widening the divide.
“The other side of it is what’s happened between him and his brother,” the source added, questioning whether the situation could have been handled differently. “At the end of the day, they’re still family. They’re people, just like us.”
Signs of the growing distance were also reflected in an official statement released after Andrew relocated from Royal Lodge in Windsor to a smaller residence on the Sandringham Estate. The message, issued on behalf of the King, underlined the seriousness of the circumstances.
It noted that certain measures were considered necessary despite Andrew’s continued denial of the allegations against him. The statement also made clear that the King and Queen’s sympathies remain firmly with victims and survivors of abuse.
Taken together, the friend’s remarks and the palace’s stance suggest that the rift is far from resolved, and may be more complex than it first appeared.
