Jennifer Aniston reveals the skincare treatment she believes is the future

Experts explain why peptide injections and polynucleotide facials are gaining attention in the beauty world

Jennifer Aniston has never been shy about discussing the treatments she uses to maintain her skin, and the actor believes one particular approach could shape the future of skincare.

The Morning Show star has long spoken about wanting to feel good both physically and mentally. As part of that approach, she has explored a range of modern beauty procedures, including polynucleotide facials, which are derived from salmon DNA, and weekly peptide injections.

Speaking to The Wall Street Journal, Aniston said she believes peptide treatments may play a major role in the future of skincare.

The topic has also caught the attention of dermatologists. During HELLO!’s first Second Act live lunchtime Q&A, dermatologist Dr. Ellie Rashid discussed the rising popularity of treatments often described as “peptide plumping.”

After Aniston shared her support for peptide injections, whether injected or applied topically to help soften wrinkles and fine lines, many people began wondering whether the treatment truly lives up to the hype.

To understand their potential benefits, it helps to first understand what peptides actually are.

Dr. Rashid, a consultant dermatologist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, explained that peptides are small chains of amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins.

In the body, they work as signalling molecules that help cells communicate with one another. They also play a role in important processes such as inflammation control, tissue repair, and collagen production.

According to the dermatologist, this biological function is what led to the growing popularity of peptide-based treatments in skincare.

Aniston has also spoken openly about her outlook on ageing. In a 2022 interview with Glamour, she reflected on how she approaches the topic.

“Two things are inevitable,” she said. “The first is ageing. The second is that there will always be critics.”

For Aniston, the focus remains on looking after herself in a balanced way.

“It’s really about asking how I can take the best care of myself, physically and mentally,” she explained.
