Comic Relief host makes light-hearted remark while recalling how he met his wife
Comedian and Comic Relief host Joel Dommett has taken a playful swipe at Meghan Markle’s past comments about Prince Harry, turning the moment into a joke during a recent podcast appearance.
The light-hearted remark refers back to Meghan’s 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, where she said she knew very little about Harry or royal life before their relationship began. She also claimed she hadn’t searched for him online, explaining that everything she needed to know came directly from him.
That statement has been widely discussed over time, especially after an older clip resurfaced in the couple’s Netflix documentary. In the footage, filmed years before their relationship, Meghan was asked on a red carpet to choose between Harry and his brother William and picked Harry.
Speaking on Davina McCall’s Begin Again podcast, Dommett shared the story of how his own relationship with his wife, Hannah, started. He explained that she first noticed him while he was appearing on television and later reached out to him online.
While recounting the moment, he couldn’t resist adding a humorous comparison. Dommett joked that his wife also claimed she didn’t really know who he was at the time, before teasingly linking it to Meghan’s comments.
With a grin, he quipped that it was similar to Meghan saying she didn’t know Harry, jokingly imagining her asking, “What is a Prince?”
The comment was clearly made in jest, adding a comedic twist to a topic that has often sparked debate, while also highlighting Dommett’s own story in a light and relatable way.
