Emma Watson has opened up about the part of Hollywood she still misses, while admitting there is one side of the industry she is happy to leave behind.
The Emma Watson star made the candid remarks during a resurfaced 2025 interview with Hollywood Authentic, where she reflected on her years in the entertainment world.
Looking back on her acting career, Watson said she feels fortunate for the opportunities she received.
“In some ways I really won the lottery [with acting], and what happened to me is so unusual,” she said.
While she still values performing, Watson explained that the promotional side of the business often took away from the creative experience.
“But a bigger component than the actual job itself is the promotion and selling of that piece of work… I’ll be honest and straightforward, and say: I do not miss selling things. I found that to be quite soul-destroying.”
Despite stepping back from major Hollywood projects, the former Harry Potter actress said she still deeply misses the artistic side of acting.
“But I do very much miss using my skill set, and I very much miss the art,” she shared.
She concluded by admitting that the part she loved most often felt overshadowed.
“I just found I got to do so little of the bit that I actually enjoyed.”
