King Charles hopes to repair ties with Harry, but William is said to strongly oppose the idea
King Charles is reportedly eager to repair his relationship with his younger son after years of tension within the royal family. However, a new report suggests that William may be standing firmly in the way of any possible reconciliation.
According to a US entertainment outlet, the monarch is hoping to reconnect with the Duke of Sussex so he can spend time with his grandchildren. The King is said to prefer a quiet reunion at the royal family’s Sandringham Estate, where the meeting could take place away from public attention.
Despite Charles’ willingness to move forward, insiders claim William is not supportive of bringing Harry back into the fold. Sources suggest the Prince of Wales remains deeply sceptical about rebuilding the relationship after the public rift that has unfolded in recent years.
One insider told National Examiner that William’s influence within the royal household has made it difficult for the King to take steps toward reconciliation.
“Charles has reached a point where he wants to forgive Harry and find a way ahead,” the source said. “But William refuses to consider it, regardless of what his father may want.”
The source added that the situation has turned into a significant disagreement behind palace walls, noting that William’s voice carries considerable weight within the royal institution.
According to the same insider, several members of the royal circle still view Harry and Meghan Markle with suspicion, which leaves the King with limited backing if he chooses to welcome them back.
