Monarch shown heartfelt video during final Bermuda engagement
King Charles III was given an unexpected moment during his final engagement in Bermuda, as he watched a recorded message from Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen.
The message, filmed while Hansen orbited the moon as part of the Artemis II mission, expressed gratitude for the King’s continued support and his long-standing focus on environmental responsibility.
Footage of the exchange was later shared by British Royal Family on social media, describing the moment as a special surprise during the monarch’s visit.
In the caption, Hansen thanked the King for his encouragement ahead of the historic mission and acknowledged his commitment to sustainability, both on Earth and beyond.
The post also highlighted new efforts to address space debris. The UK Space Agency has launched “Project Nova”, an initiative that will install five telescope sites around the world to monitor and track debris in orbit. Bermuda will host the first of these locations, officially inaugurated by the King during his visit.
The palace further noted that in 2022, the King’s Sustainable Markets Initiative introduced the “Astra Carta”, a framework aimed at encouraging sustainable practices within the space sector.
The Bermuda engagement followed the King’s recent four-day state visit to the United States, which he attended alongside Queen Camilla.
