Paula Abdul has revealed she was deeply touched after discovering that Meghan Markle chose her classic hit Forever Your Girl for a special anniversary tribute to Prince Harry.
The singer recently reflected on the moment during an interview with People, admitting that the renewed appreciation for the song continues to bring tears to her eyes.
“I always say I never take anything in my career for granted,” Abdul shared. “The amount of pinch-me moments and tears from my eyes still exists every day.”
She explained that interest in the song had already been growing, thanks in part to its connection with the upcoming film People We Meet on Vacation and its popularity across TikTok.
The emotional moment came after Meghan celebrated eight years of marriage to Harry on May 19. The Duchess of Sussex shared a collection of previously unseen photos highlighting key moments from their relationship and wedding day, using Forever Your Girl as the soundtrack to the post.
Recalling her reaction, Abdul said she could hardly believe it when she saw her music featured in the tribute.
“I pinched myself and I was like, ‘This is awesome,’” she said. “You never know. Little gems and moments can come in and just bless your life.”
The singer later reshared Meghan’s anniversary post on Instagram and expressed her appreciation for the gesture.
“So sweet to hear ‘Forever Your Girl’ over these beautiful memories,” Abdul wrote at the time.
She also sent her best wishes to the couple, adding: “Wishing you both continued love, laughter and a very Happy Anniversary!”
