Princess of Wales Meets Young Patient and Highlights Importance of Emotional Wellbeing
Catherine, Princess of Wales, paid a meaningful visit to The Christie cancer centre in Manchester this week, where she spent time with patients, their families and healthcare staff.
During the visit, Catherine learned more about the support services available to people undergoing cancer treatment, including complementary therapies, creative activities and spiritual care that help patients alongside their medical treatment.
The Prince and Princess of Wales shared photographs from the visit on their official Instagram account, accompanied by a touching message.
"A visit to The Christie in Manchester, seeing how complementary therapies, creativity and spiritual care can support patients alongside clinical treatment," the caption began.
It continued: "Spending time with patients, families and staff, hearing powerful conversations about recovery, resilience and the importance of emotional wellbeing throughout the cancer journey. From art and reflection to moments of connection and compassion, an inspiring reminder that healing takes many forms."
One of the images showed Catherine kneeling beside a young patient in a wheelchair as they shared a warm conversation and smile.
The visit held particular significance for the Princess, who has spoken openly about her own cancer journey. Catherine revealed her diagnosis in 2024 after undergoing major abdominal surgery and later completed a course of chemotherapy in September that year.
In early 2025, she announced that her cancer was in remission, allowing her to gradually return to public duties while continuing to support causes close to her heart.
