Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's reported plans to return to the UK for the Invictus Games countdown event have sparked renewed debate among royal commentators.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to attend the one-year countdown to the next Invictus Games, with reports suggesting their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, could also be part of the visit.
Discussing the upcoming trip, broadcaster Mark Dolan shared his views during an appearance on The Sun's Royal Exclusive, questioning the need for the couple to travel to Britain for the event.
Dolan argued that Prince Harry could have marked the occasion remotely and suggested the visit is motivated by a desire to maintain their royal profile.
According to the commentator, the Sussexes continue to benefit from the visibility and status associated with their royal connections, particularly as public interest in Meghan faces increased scrutiny in the United States.
He went on to claim that the visit could prove challenging for the Prince and Princess of Wales, suggesting it may shift media attention away from William and Catherine.
Dolan further speculated that Prince William would be unhappy with the timing and attention surrounding the Sussexes' return, though no such reaction has been publicly expressed by the Prince of Wales.
The Invictus Games, founded by Prince Harry in 2014, remains one of his most significant charitable initiatives, supporting wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans through international sporting competition.
