Prince Harry is expected to return to England next month with his wife, Meghan Markle, and their children, sparking fresh speculation about whether the Duke of Sussex could finally reconnect with his older brother, Prince William.
While Harry's anticipated reunion with King Charles is being viewed as a positive development for their relationship, royal experts believe a reconciliation between the two brothers remains unlikely for now.
Speaking to Page Six on June 22, royal commentator Amanda Matta said it is still far too early to predict any meaningful progress between Harry and William.
"I think it is almost impossible to draw any conclusions about a reconciliation between Harry and William at this stage," she explained.
According to Matta, the relationship between the brothers remains the most strained within the royal family. She noted that William has increasingly focused on presenting himself as a strong future leader, which has at times placed him at odds with how certain family matters have been handled.
"William is also seeking to project strength and leadership these days, which often results in press briefings that he has opposed the king's handling of emotionally charged issues like Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and now, Harry's potential return," said the Off With Their Headlines podcast co-host.
Royal reporter Emily Nash shared a similar view, saying she would be surprised if Harry and William met during the upcoming trip.
"I certainly wouldn't expect anything to happen on this visit," Nash said, while acknowledging that unexpected developments are always possible.
She added that the brothers could cross paths if Harry's visit coincides with a larger family gathering, but she does not expect them to go out of their way to spend time together.
"If it was part of a wider family gathering, it's possible they could be at the same place at the same time," Nash explained. "But given the very fractious nature of the relationship between William and Harry, I don't see them rushing to spend time together just because Harry's back in the UK."
As Prince Harry prepares to return to Britain with Meghan and their children, attention will once again turn to the state of his relationships within the royal family. For now, insiders suggest any hopes of a brotherly reconciliation may have to wait.
