Prince Harry arrived in the UK earlier this week without Meghan Markle or their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
King Charles is reportedly hoping to meet his younger son during the visit and may also be exploring the possibility of spending time with his grandchildren.
According to the Mirror, the monarch has asked senior aides to discuss possible arrangements with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, taking their schedules and public commitments into account. Sources familiar with the situation have described recent conversations between Charles and Harry as “hopeful.”
“The King would not pass up the opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren, and if there is a way of making it possible, he will do it,” one source said.
Harry is currently travelling alone after spending a family holiday in Europe. Meghan and the children reportedly did not accompany him because of security and accommodation concerns.
His legal request for publicly funded police protection in the UK was previously rejected, while reports have also claimed that accommodation once offered to him by Buckingham Palace was later withdrawn.
Speculation is now growing that Meghan and the children could join Harry in the UK next week. The Duke is reportedly trying to arrange private security so his family can travel safely.
However, amid reports of a possible reconciliation between Harry and his father, Meghan is said to remain deeply upset by the royal family.
Commentator Rob Shuter claimed she had made a firm decision not to meet members of the royal family again.
“This was one insult too many. As far as she’s concerned, she’ll never see them again,” he said.
He added that Meghan reportedly believes Harry faces rejection whenever he attempts to rebuild ties with his family.
“She believes every time he reaches out to his family, they find another way to reject him. She’s done. She has no interest in ever putting herself, or her children, through this again.”
Neither Buckingham Palace nor representatives for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have publicly confirmed the reported reunion plans or Meghan’s alleged remarks.
