Piers Morgan has shared his reaction after Prince Harry, Elton John and several other high-profile figures lost their privacy lawsuit against Associated Newspapers in London's High Court.
The ruling followed an 11-week trial in which the claimants alleged the publisher had obtained private information through unlawful means. In its written judgment, the court concluded that the claimants had failed to prove their allegations, leading to the dismissal of the case.
Following the decision, Morgan took to X, formerly Twitter, with a sarcastic response. He wrote: "Devastated about Prince Harry's £50m High Court defeat to the Daily Mail. I do hope it doesn't bankrupt him."
Replying to a post from the Daily Mail, the broadcaster continued his criticism, calling the outcome a "massive win" for the newspaper and a "massive defeat" for Prince Harry and the other claimants. Morgan also mocked the Duke's return to the UK, suggesting the timing made the ruling even more embarrassing.
During the trial earlier this year, Prince Harry gave emotional testimony, telling the court about the impact he believes media intrusion has had on his life. The case also included claims from several other public figures, including musician Elton John and actress Elizabeth Hurley.
Harry's legal team had sought substantial damages over articles published between 1993 and 2018, arguing they were based on unlawfully obtained information.
The lawsuit marked the latest chapter in Prince Harry's long-running legal battle with sections of the British press, a campaign that has become one of the defining issues of his public life since stepping back from royal duties.
