Prince Harry has shared an emotional audio message about the challenges faced by children who spend long periods in hospital because of serious illness.
The Duke of Sussex used the message to highlight the work of WellChild, the charity that supports children and young people with complex medical needs, as well as their families.
One of the charity’s key areas of focus is the work of WellChild Nurses, who help families develop the confidence and skills needed to care for their children at home whenever possible.
A caption shared alongside highlights from the visit said: “From hearing families’ experiences to seeing the WellChild Better at Home Suite in action, the visit highlighted the power of partnership in giving parents the confidence, skills and support they need beyond hospital.”
The visit took place at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, where Harry met families, WellChild Nurses and NHS staff working to help children with complex medical needs receive appropriate care at home.
The engagement also drew attention to the importance of supporting families after a child leaves hospital, particularly those managing long-term or complicated health conditions.
