The Duke of Sussex also looked back on his school football days during a post-World Cup appearance.
Prince Harry playfully corrected James Corden after the television host referred to football as “soccer” during a post-World Cup show in the United States.
The Duke of Sussex appeared on After Hours with James Corden, where the conversation turned to his childhood and experiences playing football at school.
“I always thought you went to a school that was too posh for soccer,” Corden joked.
“Too posh to play football,” Harry replied before asking, “Why are you calling it soccer?”
“Because we’re in the United States, baby!” Corden responded.
Harry went on to reveal that he played football throughout his school years, although he admitted his place in the team changed as the competition became tougher.
“In prep school, I was in the first team,” he said. “Then I went to a bigger school and ended up in the E team.”
The discussion later shifted to England’s World Cup semi-final defeat to Argentina. Harry suggested the team lost confidence after taking the lead and became too focused on defending its advantage.
“I think it was a mindset,” he explained. “You can’t spend so much of the game trying to defend a 1-0 lead against a team like that.”
