Friends of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly concerned that the couple may be struggling to agree on how much time Harry should spend in the UK as he seeks to repair his relationship with King Charles.
According to Closer, the Duke of Sussex is keen to have more contact with his father following reports that Harry, Meghan and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, met with the King in Britain last month.
However, sources claimed the couple do not see eye to eye on what a future arrangement could look like. Harry is reportedly hoping to spend more time in the UK, while Meghan is said to have no plans to leave her life in Los Angeles, even on a part-time basis.
One source told the publication that Harry would like to find a compromise that allows him to return to Britain more regularly and possibly take on a limited royal role again.
“Harry dreams of a compromise where he can come back to the UK more often,” the source claimed. “He’d love Meghan to join him, but there’s no way she’d move back, even part-time. She feels there’s too much open hostility towards her.”
The insider added that Meghan is reportedly willing to accompany Harry when it suits her, but is leaving him to manage his relationship with the Royal Family.
“They’re figuring out an agreement where Meghan accompanies him when it suits her,” the source said. “The feeling is it’s very much a make-or-break situation.”
The report also suggested that questions around Archie and Lilibet’s education are part of a wider issue over where the Sussexes see their long-term home.
Sources claimed friends fear the disagreement could lead to a stalemate if neither Harry nor Meghan is willing to compromise, with potentially serious consequences for their relationship.
