Prince William is reportedly unhappy over Meghan Markle’s recent holiday post, which included a glimpse of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet visiting a place closely associated with their late grandmother, Princess Diana.
Meghan shared a collection of photos on her official Instagram account on July 23, 2026, simply captioning the post, “summer holidays.”
The images appeared to document the Sussex family’s travels around Europe. According to Closer Magazine, one photo showed Archie and Lilibet walking toward Diana’s grave at Althorp House while carrying flowers to pay tribute to the late princess.
Because Diana’s burial site is generally regarded as deeply private, the image quickly attracted criticism online and in the media.
Columnist Maureen Callahan strongly condemned the decision to include the moment in Meghan’s holiday post, while royal commentator Tom Sykes also questioned why such a personal tribute had been shared publicly.
“They process down an avenue of lime trees at Althorp clutching bouquets to lay on Diana’s grave, which seems a weird thing to post as part of your holiday content,” Sykes said while discussing the controversy.
Prince William was also reportedly upset by the photo, with a source claiming that he believed the image had been shared to generate publicity rather than simply document a private family moment.
“The fact they shared a photo of the children on the grounds of Diana’s family home has enraged William,” an insider told Closer Magazine, claiming the Prince of Wales felt the post was intended to attract headlines.
The source added that William reportedly had no issue with Archie and Lilibet paying respects to their grandmother, but objected to the moment being shared publicly.
According to the insider, William found the situation deeply disappointing, although the source also claimed he was not entirely surprised by it.
