Prince William has paid tribute to wildlife rangers around the world, praising their courage and commitment to protecting nature.
The Prince of Wales marked World Ranger Day, observed annually on July 31 to honour rangers who have been killed or injured while carrying out their duties.
The occasion also recognises the important work rangers do to protect wildlife, natural landscapes and cultural heritage.
United for Wildlife, the organisation founded by Prince William, shared a video in collaboration with Kensington Palace to commemorate the day.
“Today is World Ranger Day,” the organisation wrote in its Instagram post.
The message highlighted how rangers work across the globe to protect wildlife, ecosystems and the natural environments on which communities depend. It also acknowledged the risks and challenges that come with the job.
The post celebrated the courage, dedication and lasting impact of rangers working to safeguard the planet.
In the video, Prince William described rangers as people who risk their lives every day while protecting the front line of nature.
Calling them “nature defenders,” William said they were holding the line to protect precious places and species around the world.
The video also included comments from Leitah Mkhabela, a supervisor with the Black Mambas, an all-female anti-poaching unit based in South Africa.
Royal followers responded by praising the men and women carrying out the demanding work.
“Absolute legends, every single one of them,” one person commented, adding that rangers deserved enormous respect for their service.
Another supporter described the profession as both beautiful and extremely challenging, saying rangers deserved as much help and recognition as possible.
