Prince Harry is reportedly walking a fine line with Queen Camilla as he seeks to rebuild his relationship with King Charles.
Relations between Harry and Camilla have long been described as strained, with some royal observers suggesting she could influence how far the Duke of Sussex’s reconciliation with his father goes.
However, a source told Heat that Camilla is unlikely to stand in the King’s way if he decides to repair his relationship with Harry.
“It’s guaranteed that anyone who tries to block him will find themselves in his bad books, and Camilla knows that, so she’s opting to stand by his side,” the insider claimed. “That way, she can do what he deems best while also keeping a close eye on the situation.”
The source added that Camilla would continue to share her concerns and watch Harry’s actions carefully.
“She will still give her opinion,” the insider said. “No doubt she will be quick to point out anything that doesn’t sit right with her, and she will be looking for any missteps. The King may be ready to forgive and forget, but Camilla is not.”
Harry is reportedly aware of the difficult position he faces. In his memoir Spare, he revealed that he and Prince William had asked their father not to marry Camilla. The claims are said to have left lasting tensions between the Queen and the Duke.
“He knows she’s an enemy, but he needs her on side in order to push things forward with his father,” the source claimed.
Harry is also said to be eager for Charles to attend the Invictus Games and has reportedly extended an invitation to Camilla in the hope that her support could make the King’s appearance more likely.
“He doesn’t have to like her to respect the fact that she holds enormous influence with his father and also with the British public,” the insider added. “She’s worked her way into a pretty popular place, so he can’t afford to alienate her.”
