Meghan Markle faced fresh criticism before making a public appearance following her reported return to Britain.
Lady Colin Campbell, a royal author and commentator, has accused the Duchess of Sussex of seeking fame and attention. Campbell was previously married to Lord Colin Ivar Campbell, the younger son of the 11th Duke of Argyll. She has written several books about the royal family and regularly shares her views on YouTube.
Speaking to Closer Online, Campbell called Meghan “the biggest fame junkie” she had ever seen. She claimed the duchess would enjoy the daily media attention surrounding her return.
Campbell also alleged that Meghan and Prince Harry have always been focused on money and publicity. According to her, Meghan believed their move to the United States would make the couple richer, more powerful and more popular than Prince William and Princess Catherine. Campbell argued that this goal had not been achieved.
She went on to claim that Meghan would not receive a warm welcome from the royal family. In Campbell’s opinion, senior royals want little contact with either Meghan or Harry.
Campbell also suggested that people close to King Charles, Prince William and Princess Catherine may avoid the Sussexes because they do not want to risk their royal connections.
Meghan, Harry and the royal family have not publicly responded to Campbell’s remarks.
