Prince Harry did not enjoy being watched and followed by security officers when he was a child, according to a former royal staff member.
The Duke of Sussex is currently seeking taxpayer-funded protection in the UK for himself, Meghan Markle and their two children. However, former royal butler Grant Harrold said Harry often tried to avoid his bodyguards when he was younger.
Speaking on The Royals Uncensored, Harrold said: “Of course, it was a long time ago when I was there, but I always remember the whole security thing.”
He explained that Harry had a personal protection officer, as well as other officers who followed him as backup.
“I remember he used to try and avoid them,” Harrold said. “He used to try and escape them. He didn’t want them around.”
According to the former butler, Harry would sometimes disappear behind the house, leaving his protection officers wondering where he had gone.
