Kate Middleton Receives New Honour Amid Health Battle

Princess Kate has been bestowed with a significant honour by King Charles as she undergoes preventative chemotherapy for an undisclosed form of cancer.

The Princess of Wales was appointed Royal Companion of The Order of the Companions of Honour on Tuesday, April 23, by the 75-year-old monarch.

However, some observers, including royal blogger Gertrude Daly, have interpreted this move as a demotion, highlighting that the title is considered "one of the lowest orders" in the hierarchy of honours.

"While it is indeed an honour for Princess Kate to receive this recognition, it's important to acknowledge that this honour is relatively lower in rank compared to others bestowed upon royals," Daly commented to the Daily Star. "Other royals typically receive higher honours."

"All the other honours granted on Tuesday were among the highest, so Princess Kate's honour appears less significant in comparison. It may seem like a consolation prize," Daly elaborated.

This development coincides with Princess Kate's temporary withdrawal from royal duties to focus on her recovery from cancer.

The exact timeline for her return to public engagements remains uncertain; however, there is optimism among royal watchers that she may be well enough to attend Trooping The Colour in June.
