Buckingham Palace confirms Catherine’s new duties as Queen Camilla recovers from illness.
Following her recovery from cancer, Catherine is set to take on a significant royal role as Queen Camilla remains unwell. King Charles III’s office has announced that the Princess of Wales will be stepping in for Camilla at upcoming key events, marking a notable shift in her public duties.
Royal commentator Richard Palmer shared the update on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “The Princess of Wales will join other members of the Royal Family at the Festival of Remembrance on Saturday night and at the Cenotaph in London on Sunday,” according to Buckingham Palace.
The announcement follows news of Queen Camilla’s health, as the Palace confirmed she is recuperating from a chest infection. The statement added, "She is recovering and will take medical advice nearer the time regarding her attendance at future engagements."
This role marks Catherine’s first major public appearance since Prince William returned from his solo tour of South Africa, where he concluded the Earthshot Prize Awards 2024. Her involvement underscores the increased responsibilities she is taking on within the royal family.
In a separate incident, Duchess Sophie sustained an injury after being struck on the head by a golf ball during a visit to Legoland in Windsor earlier this week, adding another unexpected twist to the royal family’s recent schedule changes.
