Speculation grows about Meghan’s political ambitions as the former royal shows interest in advocacy and social issues.
Meghan Markle has been a subject of ongoing speculation regarding a potential move into politics, especially as Donald Trump makes another bid for the White House. With her ties to royal neutrality no longer binding, some experts believe Meghan may consider a political career, while others remain sceptical about her prospects.
Royal insider Grant Harrold, a former butler to King Charles and Queen Camilla, commented on the possibility. “It’s not impossible that Meghan could run for office, but it’s quite unlikely. The bigger question is whether people would vote for her,” Harrold noted. “It’s an interesting scenario, but would Harry be in a position to support her in such a venture?”
Meghan has previously demonstrated a strong interest in political issues. In 2021, she made headlines for cold-calling US senators to advocate for paid parental leave. During the 2020 election, she partnered with feminist icon Gloria Steinem to encourage voter participation.
In an interview with Access Hollywood, Steinem recalled: “Meghan came home to vote. The first thing we did was sit at the dining room table and cold-call voters together.”
While Meghan and Harry have largely maintained political neutrality in recent elections, their Archewell Foundation continues to support voter registration and civic engagement, suggesting a sustained interest in advocacy and social issues.
As Trump’s potential return to the White House looms, speculation remains about whether Meghan might take the plunge into the political arena.
