King Charles has issued his first public statement following reports of Prince Andrew’s successful bid to remain at the Royal Lodge, addressing a separate but touching topic in an emotional letter.
Ahead of his 76th birthday, the King expressed gratitude to the Military Wives Choirs for their release of the song November Sunday in honour of the occasion. The Telegraph reported that the monarch was deeply moved by the tribute, even as he reflected on his advancing years and ongoing health challenges.
In his message, Charles wrote, “While those of us of a certain age may feel that birthday celebrations should diminish with our advancing years, I am nonetheless deeply touched by your wonderfully thoughtful tribute.”
The track features around 100 singers, including serving personnel, spouses, partners, and veterans from 41 Military Wives Choirs across the UK and overseas. The King expressed his appreciation, saying, “I wanted to thank you for your steadfast support, not only for your loved ones serving in the military, but also for each other.”
Reflecting on his own school days, Charles shared fond memories of choir performances, highlighting the joy of creating “close-knit friendships and support groups.” He added, “I remain a firm believer that music has a unique power to unite and inspire us all.”
This heartfelt message comes as reports indicate that Prince Andrew has secured the financial means to stay at the Royal Lodge, following tension with King Charles. According to The Times, the Duke of York convinced the royal family that he could meet his expenses independently, alleviating concerns about his continued residence at the grand estate.
