William Grows Beard Amid Catherine’s Health Struggles, Echoing Younger Brother’s Signature Look
Princess Charlotte had an emotional moment after noticing a significant change in her father Prince William’s appearance, as her mother Catherine copes with ongoing health concerns.
The young princess reportedly broke down in tears upon seeing her father sporting facial hair, a gesture many believe is a subtle nod to his younger brother, Harry. Prince William, once at odds with Harry over his beard, appears to be adopting the look in a show of unity as he considers mending the rift between them.
In an interview during his visit to South Africa, William shared his daughter’s reaction: “Charlotte didn’t like it at first. The first time I grew a beard, there were floods of tears, so I had to shave it off. But this time, I convinced her it would be okay.”
Reflecting on his current state, William admitted, “I couldn’t be less relaxed this year. But I enjoy my work, and I make sure to pace myself so I have time for my family.”
Harry has famously sported a beard for years, a look that once caused tension between the brothers. In his memoir Spare, Harry revealed that he sought permission from Queen Elizabeth II to keep his beard on his wedding day in 2018, despite the disagreement with William. However, he later appeared clean-shaven in public on several occasions.
The subtle shift in William’s appearance may be seen as an olive branch to his estranged brother amid Catherine’s health crisis.
