In a candid interview concluding his Cape Town tour, Prince William spoke emotionally about the challenging year faced by his family, revealing that both King Charles and Catherine were diagnosed with cancer in early 2024. According to People magazine, the Prince of Wales described the year as the "hardest" of his life.
William shared, "It's been dreadful. It's probably been the hardest year in my life." He detailed the immense pressure of fulfilling his role as Prince of Wales while supporting his family through their health battles. "Trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult," he admitted.
Despite the tough circumstances, William expressed immense pride in his father and wife, saying, "I'm so proud of my wife, and I'm proud of my father, for handling the things they have done. But from a personal family point of view, it's been, yeah, it's been brutal."
The Prince shared some good news, delighting royal fans by revealing that Catherine, who recently completed her chemotherapy, is now "doing well." In contrast, King Charles is still undergoing treatment but remains hopeful and focused on his recovery.
For those unfamiliar, King Charles and Catherine announced their cancer diagnoses in February and March 2024, respectively. While Catherine has completed her treatment and is concentrating on staying cancer-free, the King continues his course of care, with the family rallying together during this difficult time.
