Prince William Returns to UK and Appoints David Beckham’s Former PR Chief to His Team

The Prince of Wales takes a significant step forward, expanding his communications team after wrapping up the Earthshot Prize event in South Africa.

Prince William has successfully concluded his four-day trip to South Africa, where he announced the Earthshot Prize 2024 winners at a star-studded ceremony in Cape Town. Now back in the UK, the Prince of Wales has made a notable new appointment, enlisting the expertise of David Beckham’s former PR chief, Victoria Shires, as Head of Communications for his Homewards initiative.

Victoria, who previously held a three-year role as Head of PR for Beckham’s DB Ventures, joined William’s team in October. Speaking with Mail Online, the 34-year-old shared that she’s had a “great first few weeks” working with the future King. Shires also noted that it was “lovely” to have her first project coincide with the launch of William’s ITV documentary We Can End Homelessness, which premiered on Halloween.

William’s close connection with the Beckham family likely influenced this decision, as the two families have maintained a long-standing friendship. In a recent interview on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Brooklyn Beckham spoke about his family’s encounters with the royals, mentioning that he had probably spent the most time with Prince William when he was younger. “He’s, like, the sweetest guy ever,” Brooklyn shared. “Really down to earth. He’s a really good guy.”

Returning home to reunite with Princess Kate and their three children, Prince William received a warm welcome. Kensington Palace highlighted the key moments from the Earthshot Prize ceremony, sharing photos and videos of the inspiring event.

David and Victoria Beckham have had numerous connections with the royal family over the years, attending the Prince and Princess of Wales’s wedding in 2011 and later attending Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding in 2018. The former footballer has also supported several of William’s charitable initiatives, further cementing the friendship between the two high-profile families.
