The Prince of Wales squeezes in a packed schedule, meeting rescue volunteers and local communities in Cape Town.
Prince William is completing the final leg of his South Africa tour, making the most of his last hours before flying back to the UK. On Thursday, the Prince of Wales visited the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) at Simon’s Town harbour in Cape Town, where he met with volunteers and boarded the lifeboat Donna Nicholas to engage with the crew.
In an update shared on the official social media account of the Prince and Princess of Wales, the Simon’s Town crew expressed their excitement: “We’re the Station 10 crew, and Prince William is here today to learn about our daily operations,” a member shared in a video clip.
William then headed to Kalk Bay Harbour, where he was warmly welcomed by hundreds of locals as he joined a traditional Cape Town braai, a popular barbecue gathering. The event showcased the work of Abalobi, a 2023 Earthshot Prize finalist from South Africa. The initiative focuses on supporting small-scale fishing communities, promoting sustainable ocean practices, and educating consumers about the origins of their seafood.
With his final engagements now complete, Prince William is set to return to the UK on Thursday, reuniting with Princess Kate and their three children after a successful and impactful visit to South Africa.
