King Charles to Lead Events as Camilla Observes Privately Following Chest Infection
Queen Camilla has decided to step back from this weekend’s Remembrance events on medical advice due to a chest infection. Despite hopes of recovering in time, the Queen will now mark the occasion privately at home, Buckingham Palace announced.
Camilla initially intended to attend but her health has not improved enough for public participation. A Palace spokesperson explained, “Following doctors’ guidance for a full recovery from a seasonal chest infection and to prevent any risk to others, Her Majesty will not attend this weekend’s Remembrance events. This decision is a great disappointment to The Queen, but she will observe the day privately and plans to resume public duties early next week.”
Meanwhile, the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance will continue tonight at the Royal Albert Hall, with King Charles, the Prince and Princess of Wales, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, and the Princess Royal expected to attend.
As the new Patron of the Royal British Legion, King Charles has taken on additional responsibilities, despite a brief pause from duties earlier this year following his cancer diagnosis. The King remains committed to his role, with further international engagements scheduled for 2025.
