Lingering Symptoms Prompt Rest as King Charles Attends Event Alone
Queen Camilla, 77, has withdrawn from the Royal Variety Performance following doctors’ advice to rest, sparking concerns about her ongoing recovery from a chest infection.
In a statement, the Palace shared: “Following a recent chest infection, The Queen continues to experience some lingering post-viral symptoms. After a busy week of engagements, Her Majesty has been advised to prioritise sufficient rest. With great regret, she has therefore withdrawn from attendance at tonight’s Royal Variety Performance. His Majesty will attend as planned.”
Despite her absence, Queen Camilla expressed her regret at missing the event. Royal commentator Cameron Walker shared on social media: “Camilla sends her sincere apologies to all those involved but is a great believer that ‘the show must go on.’ She hopes to be back to full strength and regular public duties very soon.”
This marks the third event Camilla has missed recently, including the Field of Remembrance ceremony at Westminster Abbey and a Buckingham Palace reception for Olympic and Paralympic athletes earlier in November.
As fans express their concern, hopes remain high for her swift recovery and return to public life.
