Sisters Skip Sandringham for In-Law Celebrations During Royal Family Controversy
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie have decided to forgo the Royal Family’s Christmas celebrations at Sandringham Estate this year, opting instead to spend the holidays with their husbands’ families.
The decision comes as their father, Prince Andrew, faces allegations of ties to Yang Tengbo, a suspected Chinese spy. While the scandal casts a shadow over the festive season, insiders suggest the sisters’ choice is also influenced by their desire to embrace new holiday traditions with their in-laws.
Beatrice, married to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, will celebrate with their daughter, Sienna, and Edoardo’s son, Christopher Woolf. Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, will enjoy the season with their two young sons, August and Ernest.
This marks a departure from tradition for the Princesses of York, who have regularly spent Christmas with the Royal Family at Sandringham, except during the COVID-19 pandemic. As non-working royals, Beatrice and Eugenie maintain strong family ties but have begun focusing on their growing families’ priorities.
Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson are also expected to skip Sandringham, staying at Royal Lodge. While King Charles has not barred Andrew from attending, reports suggest he hoped his brother would voluntarily step back to minimise public scrutiny.
The allegations surrounding Andrew’s association with Yang Tengbo continue to draw attention. Yang, who denies any wrongdoing, is accused of mingling with influential British figures under suspicious circumstances.
Despite the ongoing controversy, King Charles will lead this year’s Sandringham festivities, focusing on family unity and royal traditions as the family navigates a challenging period.
